A dot is better than a wicket.īowling: All the superlatives have already been said about this area. That was too high to hook, so drop the head and let it go. Ervines wicket was a perfect example of our hook discussion yesterday. Not really sure what Reggie and Jongwe add to the team at this point. We need to be better all around with the bat, not just have the one or two. We got off to a good start, but then we faltered. It's exactly what I've been talking about. Wes played some great punches and straight drives without over hitting. They were not trying to overhit the ball or hit too hard. Watched the replay this morning.īatting: Great start from Wes and Ervine. Let's hope they're on the money next game.Ĭouldn't watch the game live. It's clear that the heavy length ball with no width is what's going to keep the batsmen quiet from the seamers. He bowled one really quick delivery as well, which makes you wonder why he cant do that more regularly or at least make his stock speed about 5kph quicker. I watched Evans bowling a couple of deliveries with an angled seam and he was really getting good movement with that. There's a slim chance he may play ahead of Jongwe but I doubt. I'm also pretty sure there's less swing in Perth than Hobart. Tough one for Chatara as he's bowled well. I don't see there being any changes for the next game. We have to adjust our game plans and field settings accordingly if its going to remain like that. We're probably going to be reliant on Wes and Raza to post or chase any big totals, but someone else has to fire.Īs the commentators said, it's an entirely different game with big boundaries. It's a big problem and not one they're going to fix too easily. Shumba continues to go at a run a ball, as does Ervine and Williams, and Burl was even slower than that. That opening combo will stay so his current position is probably where he will stay. He tries to over hit everything and there's probably more pressure to do that down the order than as an opener. I don't know what to say about his current batting form. I'm just pointing out his worst moments, his keeping was good on the whole and clearly he makes some decisions. Had he stepped once and been a tiny bit quicker on that stumping the guy would still have been in his crease as it was one of those over balancing acts. ![]() He also dropped the throw but recovered quickly and on one occasion went in front of the stumps to collect a throw from Shumba and had he been in position there was a definite run out chance. Reggie's stumping was crucial, but he did step twice. Is Munyonga a better bat? I have my doubts, He got himself in a tangle with that delivery because it was fast and nasty and it followed him, but he actually looked in control of the shot, just bottom edged it. I don't know about dropping Jongwe for Munyonga. He was mega excited and it was beautiful to see the stunned looking Pakistani commentator who was annoying at best.Įvans will surely stay, but at whose expense? It surely means Chatara will sit out?
